Born and brought up in South Wales I have had an interest in wildlife for as long as I can remember. Following in the footstep's of my father, who was a professional photographer, I have been a dedicated nature photographer for the past 25 years. Initially, my interest centred on photographing the nests of birds and their breeding habitats. However, on moving to Scotland in 1976, I met, for the first time other bird photographers and saw the wealth of wildlife and photographic opportunities. This is when my real interest in nature photography started to take off and I have since photographed widely throughout the Scottish mainland and surrounding islands. I am a great advocate of the Canon EOS system and believe that the superb range of image-stabalising and auto-focusing lenses are ideally suited to wildlife photography. Armed with this equipment, and partly to get some relief from the dreadful Scottish weather, I now travel widely to photograph new wildlife species. In the last few years, I have organised photographic trips to Florida, Bosque del Apache, India, Lesvos, Namibia and Oman on behalf of a small group of friends. My taste and ambition in the pursuit of wildlife photos are to capture images, which are wild and free, and which, through the use of sensitive lighting and creative techniques, depict the subject in imaginative and refreshing ways. In these aspects, I particularly enjoy the challenge and frustrations of attempting to capture flight and action images. In recent years, I have broadened my interests and now thoroughly enjoy landscape and mammal photography. I very much welcome the advent of digital photography and currently use the Canon EOS 1D MK3 with a range of Canon lenses.
