Having lived all my life in the country, I have always had an interest in wildlife; as a youngster my friends and I spent many hours looking for birds and their nests.  This gave me a good basic understanding of nature and field craft, and I was also lucky to associate with expert ornithologists.

I started recording my nest-finding observations in the late 1960s and this developed in the 1970s to photographing birds, particularly at the nest.  Later, I was fortunate to meet and be helped by Eric Hosking with whose encouragement I improved my photographic knowledge.  I started with a 35mm Pentax, progressed to 2 1/4'' Hasselbad and am now working in digital.

My real interest lies in the Western Palearctic, doing most of my photography in Europe, mainly the UK and Spain.
