My father encouraged my interest in the natural world, especially birds, when I was a small boy.  Indeed, the magic of birds in flight may have influenced my decision to fly as a pilot in the Royal Air Force.  However, I had no interest in photographing birds until a 5-month posting to the Falkland Islands in 1985 persuaded me to buy a Pentax film camera.  Since then, I have graduated from film to digital capture and now use Canon cameras and lenses.

While much of my early work was of static creatures, modern equipment now helps me to concentrate on more active subjects, and especially birds in flight.

Since I retired in 2001, I have been able to travel more widely throughout the UK, and to many other countries, in pursuit of wildlife photographic opportunities.  I returned to the Falklands on a nostalgic photographic trip in 2004, and I am embarking on a further visit to the Falklands and South Georgia in Oct/Nov 2007.

My photography is mainly an absorbing hobby, but I do have images with online libraries and have been known to sell the occasional mounted/framed print.

I also have a website (www.dickieduckett.com) to show off my latest images.
