My interest in nature and photography is due to my grandfather, Arthur Brook, and although he died when I was 6 I remember being taken to hides, nest sites and seeing photographs at his house in Mid Wales.  He left a wonderful collection of books and 1/4" plate equipment, which along with my brother I spent many hours exploring.

I started to attempt serious photography when I was around 9 and began to understand the 1/4" equipment a few years later.  In 1966 when I was 16 Morrey Salmon, who had worked with my father, introduced me to the ZPC.  I left in 1972 due to my working mainly in colour transparencies and in 1977 I had a 20 year break from photography.

Most of my recent work has been studio or garden based and I am very interested in high speed flash, whilst results are rewarding I would like to have the time to pursue wildlife in the field and my fondest memories are of doing this in my younger days.  I re-joined the ZPC in 2002, sadly there are few members left from when I first joined.

I work as a pottery teacher and my other main interest in life has been breeding birds of prey; I ran an A 1 project which I gave up a few years ago to concentrate on photography.
